WORKSHOP ON UAE SOCIAL STUDIES @ IPHS

On 2nd February 2019, a workshop on UAE Social Studies was conducted in IPHS. The UAE S.St. teachers from different schools of Ras Al Khaimah attended the workshop. Topics of discussion during the session included:

  • Marks distribution
  • Syllabus
  • Classroom activities for UAE S.St.

The participant teachers discussed and suggested their viewpoints. It was an interactive session and the workshop proved to ignite a spark towards innovative teaching methodologies with collaborative efforts to develop students as Global Citizens. It was truly a productive and effective workshop.

Workshop for the teachers of Commerce Department

A workshop was organised for the teachers of Department of Commerce at Gems Millennium School, Sharjah on 17th November 2018.The resource person was Dr.S.C.Sharma.  The agenda focussed on the change in the pattern of the questions, setting of the question paper and adjustment regarding proposed dividend and GST. Mr. Binu Kumar from IPHS attended the workshop which was very useful and informative.

Workshop on Mental Health First Aid @ Al Qasimi Foundation

A workshop on Mental Health First Aid was conducted on 11th and 12th December 2018 at the Al Qasimi Foundation, RAK by LightHouse Arabia Centre for well-being, Dubai. It was two full days workshop and our Social Worker Ms. Bitty Devasia attended the session.

Workshop for Hindi Teachers

IPHS conducted one day workshop for Hindi teachers on the occasion of Hindi Diwas on 25th September 2018. Teachers from different schools in RAK also attended the workshop. Dr. Vinod Singh Rathore, was the esteemed resource person.

Following were the high lights of the workshop:

  1. To develop children’s interest in hindi grammar.
  2. How to deal with the common mistakes done by the children.
  3. To bring in creativity in the lesson plans.
  4. Usage of vowels in daily use.

Workshop for Mathematics teachers

Workshop on Subconscious Learning Approach to learn an interesting teaching methodology was organized on 20th September 2018 by the Resource Person Mr. Divesh Pathaji. Mrs. Regin Jency and Mrs. Shabeena Anjum of IPHS were attended the workshop.

Subconscious learning approach develops a customized learning plan. It correlates Math concepts with games. This helps the children in developing interest towards the subject and bridging the gap in the existing system. The workshop enlightened us with fun filled learning.

TEACHERS DAY CELEBRATION 2018 @ IPHS

Teachers day is celebrated to honor all the dedicated ideal teachers who use themselves as bridges over which they invite their students to cross. IPHS celebrated the day in their own elegant way. The day is dedicated to Dr. Sarvepalli Radha Krishnan – second President of India, great academic philosopher, was one of the most well known diplomats, scholar and above all a Teacher. As a tribute to him, his birthday has been observed as teachers’ day. Mrs. Lisa Sam, Mrs. Divya Bhola and Mr. Binu Kumar made informative talks on Teachers’ day. The games for teachers were organised and made the session more beautiful followed by laughing exercises. The real boost in everybody’s life is when the appreciation is received for the performance especially when you are recognized by the Management, 10 teachers were given the certificates for their remarkable performances during the academic year 2017-18.

Our respected Principal Mrs. Anubha Nijhawan addressed the session with her beautiful messages and blessings. Our KG students beautifully sung a song, praising and thanking their teachers. We invited a few parents from Primary section to handle the classes where their child is studying. A few parents willingly joined us to make the celebration a grand success. The students of class XII took up the responsibility in the role of teachers and lead the classes under the guidance of Mr. Sunil Jose, in charge of student council. The day’s celebration winded up with the cake cutting ceremony sponsored by Malabar Gold, RAK. Principal, Vice Principal, SLT members and entire staff gathered to make the program a grand success. There was also a lucky draw organized by Malabar Gold. Mrs. Archana won a gold coin.  Mrs. Sumana and Mrs. Ajeena received gifts from a spot draw. It was indeed a moment of glory & happiness for all the teachers to spend time together and enjoy themselves as their students do.

TEACHNEXT TRAINING FOR TEACHERS

Enhancing the learning experience by digitalizing the classroom has been the area of initiation at IPHS. Abstracts Concepts are taught through videos and well narrated lessons. The software updated content was delivered to teachers through “Teachnext Software Training” on 28th August 2018.

Workshop on Managing the emotional needs of SwSEN in an inclusive classroom

IPHS in association with RAKMHSU conducted a workshop for the teaching staff of KG and Primary on July 4th 2018. The session focused   on Tips to manage the emotional needs of students with SEND in an inclusive classroom. Speaker of the program was Mrs. Carol Mathias, Senior Lecturer-Psychology & Student Counselor, RAKMHSU. The program started with an introduction to Inclusive Education policy in a regular school vis-ā-vis skills required for the same. The importance of understanding Emotional Intelligence was highlighted and discussed through examples. The program ended with a group activity. The message conveyed through the program was well received and all were motivated to do their best to meet the emotional needs of each individual student.

Identification of Gifted and Talented Students - session for teaching staff at IPHS

IPHS in association with Sunny Specialty Medical Centre, Sharjah conducted a workshop for the teaching staff on July 3rd 2018. The session focused on Identification of Gifted and Talented students and strategies to support them in the regular education. The speaker of the program was Ms. Anu Margaret, Specialist Social Worker & Ms. Lakshmi, Clinical Psychologist Sunny Specialty Medical Center, Sharjah. The program started with an explanation of the importance of Inclusive Education policy in the regular school. It also dealt with different ways to identify SEN category students at the earliest and how to manage them in the mainstream classroom.

Types of gifted or different domains and steps to be taken to confirm ‘Giftedness’ and how to support them in the normal classroom and various case studies regarding this was also well explained. The program was a real eye opener in view of SEN category students. The message conveyed by the program was appreciated a lot and all were motivated to do their best to meet the needs of each individual students.

Professional Development Programme for teachers

A workshop was conducted for teachers on 23rd June 2018 at Habitat School, Ajman. The topic was ‘How to become an outstanding teacher’. The first session was ‘Lesson Planning for a Model Class by Mr. Muhammed Aslam Khan, Principal, New Indian Model School, Dubai. The second session was ‘The 21st Century Learning Skills’ by Mr. Paramjit Ahluwalia, Principal, Dunes International School, Abu Dhabi. The concluding session was conducted by Prof.M. Abubaker, Principal, Scholars English School, RAK. On the topic ‘How to become an Outstanding teacher.’ It was a workshop beneficial to all the attendees and another step aiming at professional development of the teachers.

Iftar Party @ IPHS

The Staff, Parent Council members and Student Cabinet Leaders organized an Iftar Party on Thursday, 7th June 2018 at 7:00 pm in the school campus to celebrate this sacred occasion of the Ramadan month. It was a great delight to see a good gathering on the occasion. The parents appreciated and enjoyed the collaborative Iftar Party at the school. It was a memorable evening for all those who were a part of this loving gathering. We thank all the sponsors who have contributed varieties of food to make the celebration a grand success.

Workshop for teachers organized by Gulf Council of CBSE

Professional Development Programme organized by Gulf Council of CBSE Schools held at Pace International School, Sharjah on May 12 2018. It was on the preparation of SEF and on all the 6 performance standards namely Students’ Achievement, Students’ personal & social development and their innovation skills, Teaching and Assessment, The Protection, Care, Guidance and Support, Leadership and Management. It was a very informative and an interactive session.

Teachers’ Empowerment Program

The Science India Forum UAE Chapter organized an Empowerment Program on 12th May 2018, for teachers in connection with the National Technology day which was observed on 11th May 2018. The event was organized by Manipal University, Dubai. The venue of the program was Manipal University Campus, Dubai. The chief guest of the day was Sri. Vipul, Consulate General of India.

The program started by 10.30, by the inaugural speech by the Chief Guest and the other dignitaries. This was followed by the introduction of the speakers of the day. The whole session was divided into two. The session was handled by Mr. B.R. Swaminathan. The session consists of the discussions related to time management, which was followed by a meditation session. Dr. Ameya Dhanekar, gave the necessary tips for the personality development as a teacher as well as an individual. The highlight of the afternoon session was the panel discussion by Mr. Ramesh Mudgar of Global School, Mr. Iqbal Siddiqui and Mr. Gireesh Narayanan. The interactive and lively sessions made the program a success. The session ended by 6.

IPHS participates in Getex Counsellors Forum – 2018

The Getex Counsellors Forum was conducted on 10th April 2018  at Dubai International Convention Center. Delegates from different Universities, School Counsellors and Special educators participated in the conference. IPHS School Counsellor Mrs. Bitty Devasia, participated in the event. The theme of the forum for the year 2018-19 was “Embracing change to meet tomorrow’s challenges”.  The different sessions were handled by renowned speakers. Cyber security, new careers in an increasingly disruptive world, meditation for self-care and design careers were some of the topics discussed in the interactive a day-long event.
